Police officers from throughout central New Jersey gather at the Cathedral of St. Francis of Assisi for the Diocese of Metuchen’s Blue Mass.  The annual Mass pays tribute to active and retired officers as well as those killed in the line of duty.

Fred Briegs plays the organ at the First Presbyterian Church, Friday, October 15, 2010, on Rahway Avenue in Woodbridge. Mr Briegs is celebrating fifty years playing the pedals and pipes at the church.

Members of the Plainfield police community gathered Saturday to dedicate a memorial to the four officers killed in the line of duty since the department was founded in 1869. “We’re honoring those who have lost their lives”, said Police Director Martin Hellwig, “who have given everything to the city. With this visual reminder, Watchung and Fourth will never be the same .”
